Sycamore, IL (June 14, 2025) – A four-vehicle crash that included a rollover and resulted in two people being hospitalized occurred Thursday afternoon in Sycamore, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
According to reports, deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to Illinois State Route 64 at Motel Road at approximately 4:06 p.m. Authorities say 54-year-old Peter J. Nevsimal of Elgin was driving a 2023 Ford Expedition towing a travel trailer westbound when he failed to reduce speed. His SUV veered into a ditch and flipped, destroying a utility pole.
A 44-year-old Sycamore driver with a juvenile in a blue 2021 Nissan tried to avoid the oncoming Ford but was struck by an eastbound 2020 Ram pickup truck. A 2014 Mazda driven by a 28-year-old from Pingree Grove then crashed into the pileup from behind.
Nevsimal and the Nissan driver were both transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Passengers in the Ford, including a 43-year-old from Elgin and a minor, were unharmed.
Nevsimal was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. All vehicles involved, except the Mazda, were towed due to extensive damage.
