Crawford County, MO (June 16, 2025) — A devastating crash involving a large recreational vehicle and a passenger SUV resulted in the deaths of four people Sunday afternoon on Interstate 44 near Sullivan.
According to reports, the incident occurred just after 1 p.m. near mile marker 221. The crash involved a large motorhome and a 2015 Nissan Murano, each carrying two occupants. A fire broke out moments after the collision, engulfing the vehicles. Tragically, all four individuals died in the crash and ensuing fire.
Emergency responders from Bourbon Fire District, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, Missouri State Highway Patrol, MoDOT, and Sullivan Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. Eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 were shut down for hours between Cuba and Sullivan, with traffic rerouted to alternate roads.
