SCOTT COUNTY, MO (January 10, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 55 northbound near the 84.8-mile marker resulted in injuries to two individuals on Friday afternoon.
According to CPL. J.R. Spain of Troop E, the crash occurred around 12:10 PM when a 2009 Saturn stopped on the roadway to check on a previous incident. The vehicle was struck from behind by a 2007 Freightliner traveling northbound. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Twin City Towing.
The driver of the Saturn, a 20-year-old male from Chaffee, MO, and a 19-year-old male passenger, also from Chaffee, sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash and were transported to St. Francis Medical Center by North Scott Ambulance. The Freightliner’s driver, a 48-year-old male from DeWitt, IA, was uninjured.
