Cass County, ND (June 12, 2025) – A Florida man was killed in a violent crash involving two large trucks in rural Cass County on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the collision happened at approximately 8:25 p.m. on June 11 at the intersection of Cass County Road 26 and Highway 18. Authorities say the driver of a 2026 Western Star cement truck was traveling west on County Road 26 when he allegedly failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a northbound 2023 Kenworth truck hauling a trailer full of potatoes.
The impact caused the trailer to detach, sending its load spilling into a nearby ditch. The 34-year-old Fort Myers, Florida man driving the cement truck was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The 78-year-old man from Minto driving the Kenworth truck was taken to Sanford Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
