Frenchtown Township, MI (June 25, 2025) – A truck driver was killed and multiple road construction workers injured following a major crash on Interstate 75 Tuesday morning in Monroe County.
According to reports, the fatal crash occurred around 9 a.m. on June 25 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the Interstate 275 split. Michigan State Police said MDOT crews were patching the left lane of the highway when a semi-truck crashed into the back of one of the attenuator vehicles stationed for worker protection. The truck then jackknifed and struck a second attenuator truck before spilling its load of aluminum cans across the roadway.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. Several MDOT workers suffered minor injuries and were treated on site.
The crash shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 from Exit 18 at Nadeau Road through Exit 20 for most of the day, reopening around 9:30 p.m. Heavy traffic was rerouted to nearby U.S. Route 24.
