Frenchtown Township, MI (June 26, 2025) — A serious crash involving a semi-truck and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) vehicles claimed the life of the truck driver and left several road workers injured Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. on June 24 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 at Interstate 275. The MDOT crew had been conducting maintenance work, patching the left lane using attenuator trucks designed to absorb rear-end impacts.
Authorities say the semi-truck slammed into the back of one of the attenuator vehicles, jack-knifed, and then collided with a second safety vehicle. The impact caused a significant spill of aluminum cans across the roadway. The semi-truck driver died at the scene. Several MDOT workers were treated for minor injuries.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 remain closed as the Michigan State Police and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division continue to investigate the scene and clear the wreckage.
