Jackson, MS (July 18, 2025) – A violent crash involving a tractor-trailer disrupted westbound travel and left one man with serious injuries Thursday morning in Hinds County.

According to reports, the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 20 West near Exit 19 in Edwards. The wreck occurred at the underpass where the interstate passes beneath Highway 22.

Troopers confirmed that the semi-truck became wedged beneath the overpass, trapping the driver inside the wreckage. Emergency crews worked quickly to free him, and the driver was later airlifted from the site due to the severity of his injuries.

The collision brought westbound traffic to a standstill for several hours, and commuters were advised to seek alternate routes while clean-up and investigations continued. Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity.
