Lansing, MI (June 16, 2025) – A fatal incident on Interstate 96 westbound claimed the life of a man Sunday afternoon near Webberville.
According to reports, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 11:45 a.m. on June 16 following reports that a man had been struck by a semi-truck near the M-52 overpass. Deputies and emergency services from the Northeast Ingham Emergency Services Authority arrived to find the victim deceased on the roadway.
Preliminary findings indicate the man had walked into the westbound lane of I-96 before being hit. Authorities have not yet released his identity, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team and the Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing to assist in the investigation. I-96 was closed for several hours and reopened by 3:43 p.m.
