Thomaston, GA (January 9, 2026) — A serious crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck led to one man being hospitalized Tuesday morning in Upson County. The accident occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. on January 6, 2026, on State Route 36 near the intersection of Willis Road.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a tractor-trailer was positioned in the eastbound travel lane while attempting to back onto the roadway to make a delivery. As it faced west in the eastbound lane, a Ford F-150 approached from the opposite direction. The pickup truck driver, trying to avoid the obstructing trailer, steered into the turning lane but collided with the semi’s trailer on the left front side.
The driver of the Ford F-150 became trapped and had to be extricated by emergency crews. He was later transported to Atrium Navicent Medical Center in Macon for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
The semi-truck driver, a 32-year-old man from Monroe, Georgia, has been charged with driving on the wrong side of the roadway and improper backing.
