According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Schuster Drive. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Mohamed Ali Mumin of Aurora, Colorado, reportedly veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail before crashing into a cement pillar beneath the Spur 1966 overpass.
Emergency crews transported Mumin to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities closed the interstate for nearly 14 hours following the wreck as investigators worked at the scene.
