Morris, IL (August 5, 2025) — A multi-semi crash early Monday morning led to serious traffic disruptions and sent at least two drivers to the hospital along Interstate 80 near Morris and Minooka.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. on August 4, just west of milepost 113. Illinois State Police say the driver of an eastbound semi-truck swerved left to avoid hitting a deer, lost control, and crossed the median into westbound lanes—where it collided head-on with another semi-truck.
The westbound semi was pushed onto the shoulder and into a ditch by the force of the impact. Both drivers involved in that collision were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries.
A third semi-truck traveling eastbound was also affected when an unidentified object fell from an unknown vehicle and struck its front bumper.
The crash forced authorities to shut down westbound I-80 for nearly nine hours. Traffic was diverted to Brisbin Road and Route 6, causing significant congestion throughout Morris. Agencies including the Illinois State Police, Morris Fire and Police Departments, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, IDOT, and Grundy County Emergency Management responded to the scene.
