According to the Georgia State Patrol, the chain of collisions began near mile marker 31 in Twiggs County and extended through Laurens and Bleckley Counties. A Kenworth tractor-trailer reportedly failed to stop in time and rear-ended a Freightliner box truck, triggering a domino effect that led to multiple commercial vehicles and a Chevrolet truck with a utility trailer being involved.
The Kenworth veered off the road and overturned, while one Freightliner rolled into the median and another slammed into cable barriers. The Chevrolet trailer was also overturned. In total, crashes spanned from Exit 32 to Exit 39, affecting travel near Allentown, Montrose, and Dudley.
