According to reports, the collision happened around 3 p.m. on May 31 in the northbound lanes of Federal Highway, just south of Southeast Summerfield Way and Southeast Cove Road. Deputies said the vehicle struck the bicyclist, dragged him approximately 10 to 15 feet, and then fled the scene without stopping to assist.
The suspect vehicle is described as a red or burgundy SUV, possibly with damage to the front right bumper. Authorities said the driver was a man, but no additional description has been provided. The injured bicyclist received aid and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
