Glendale, AZ (July 12, 2025) — A tragic incident unfolded Friday morning when a driver lost their life in a collision with a tanker truck in Glendale’s West Valley.
According to reports, Glendale Police responded around 9 a.m. to the scene near Grand Avenue and Royal Palm Road, just north of Northern Avenue. Investigators stated that a tanker truck was backing into a nearby business, blocking three lanes of Grand Avenue with road cones set up for safety. A small sedan reportedly drove through the cones and slammed into the rear of the tractor pulling the tanker.
Bystanders rushed to break the sedan’s windows and pull the driver out, attempting CPR until Peoria firefighters arrived. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. Grand Avenue was shut down for several hours and reopened shortly after 2 p.m.
