Lake Arbor, MD (August 20, 2025) – A devastating multi-car crash in Prince George’s County claimed the lives of two women Tuesday afternoon and left several others injured.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 12:40 p.m. on August 19 along northbound Maryland Route 202 near St. Joseph’s Drive. Authorities confirmed that 50-year-old Tara Gross of Camp Springs and 31-year-old Dandra Byrd of Riverdale were killed when the Mercedes-Benz E 300 they occupied was struck during the pileup. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said a Honda Accord, driven by 28-year-old Tierra Johnson of Upper Marlboro, struck a curb divider, went airborne, and crashed into multiple vehicles, including a Toyota Tundra, Dodge Grand Caravan, and ultimately the Mercedes-Benz carrying Gross and Byrd. The Honda overturned and came to rest in a ditch.
Five people, including Johnson, were transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center with injuries. Authorities believe speed was a factor, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
