According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the single-vehicle crash occurred just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, along Williams Field Road, just east of Gilbert Road.

Authorities said the vehicle, carrying five teenagers ages 16 and 17, was traveling westbound when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree for unknown reasons. Four of the five teens sustained injuries serious enough to require hospitalization. As of Wednesday, two of them remained in medical care.
