Jamestown Township, MI (November 2, 2024) — A collision in Jamestown Township on Saturday afternoon sent three people to the hospital, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. at the intersection of 24th Avenue and Greenly Street. Deputies report that a 29-year-old man from Indiana was driving east on Greenly Street in a Hyundai Elantra. Believing the intersection to be a four-way stop, he stopped at the sign on Greenly but then entered the intersection, where his vehicle was struck by a southbound Honda CR-V on 24th Avenue.
The impact left the 70-year-old driver of the Honda, a Holland resident, pinned inside her vehicle, requiring rescue by firefighters. She and her two passengers, a 47-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl from Hudsonville, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Indiana driver received treatment at the scene and was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
Protecting Your Rights after a Fatal Car Accident Today
When a loved one is lost in a fatal car accident, protecting your legal rights can provide the support needed to move forward. If another party’s negligence caused the accident, surviving family members may have grounds for a wrongful death claim. This claim can help cover funeral costs, medical expenses, and the financial impact of losing a family member’s support. Consulting a skilled wrongful death attorney is essential to navigate this complex process. An attorney can gather evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and represent your family’s best interests in court if necessary. Acting promptly ensures that critical evidence, like witness statements and accident reports, is preserved. Although no amount of compensation can replace your loved one, pursuing justice can offer financial stability and peace of mind. Knowing your rights and seeking legal guidance helps your family heal while holding responsible parties accountable.
