Erie, PA (August 8, 2025) – A major crash early Tuesday morning sent five people to the hospital and caused significant traffic disruptions along a busy east-west route and the Interstate 79 interchange in Erie. The collision occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on August 5 along West 26th Street, just east of the I-79 ramps.
According to reports, a Mitsubishi sport-utility vehicle traveling east on West 26th Street crossed into the westbound lanes, striking a Kia Sedona minivan and a Kia Soul. The force of the impact left the Mitsubishi resting on top of the Kia Soul’s front end and caused heavy damage to the Kia Sedona.
Five people from the three vehicles were transported to area hospitals, with at least one sustaining serious injuries. Police closed portions of West 26th Street and the I-79 northbound off-ramps for several hours while conducting their investigation.
Protect Your Rights After an Accident Today
When multiple vehicles are involved in a serious crash, the complexity of the investigation increases—and so does the importance of protecting your legal rights. An experienced accident attorney can review evidence, reconstruct the scene, and determine who may be held liable. Victims may be entitled to compensation for hospital bills, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering. Acting quickly ensures that valuable evidence and witness statements are preserved, giving your case the best possible chance of success. Legal representation also helps level the playing field when dealing with insurance companies that may attempt to limit payouts.
