Sunderland, MA (August 9, 2025) – First responders worked together in a multi-agency rescue Thursday afternoon after a farmer was pinned beneath a tractor in Sunderland. The accident happened at approximately 12:40 p.m. in farm fields located across from the intersection of Russell Street and Plumtree Road.
According to reports, the Sunderland Police Department said the tractor rolled over onto the farmer, prompting a response from multiple agencies including Sunderland Fire Department, South County EMS, South Deerfield Fire, Deerfield Police, Sunderland Highway Department, and the LifeStar helicopter crew. Rescuers freed the farmer from under the machinery, and the victim was placed in an ambulance before being airlifted by LifeStar. Authorities said the farmer was awake and speaking during the rescue. The cause of the rollover remains under investigation.
