According to reports, the crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. on July 30 near Exit 4 (PA 851 – Shrewsbury). The Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company confirmed that the wreck involved a tractor-trailer loaded with frozen hot dogs and two other vehicles.
Four individuals were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the cargo spilled across the highway, closing both northbound lanes and the left southbound lane for several hours. Traffic congestion stretched between Exit 4 and Exit 8 (Glen Rock), frustrating many morning commuters.
By mid-afternoon, lanes had reopened, though cleanup vehicles remained active around Exit 8.
