Lexington, SC (September 10, 2025) – A South Carolina state trooper was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday morning after being struck during a traffic stop on Augusta Highway in Lexington County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened on September 9 near Lost Branch Road. The trooper was outside his vehicle conducting a traffic stop when a Lexington County deputy slowed down to check on him. A red pickup truck behind the deputy failed to reduce speed, crashing into the deputy’s vehicle.
The truck continued forward, striking the stopped car involved in the initial traffic stop and another vehicle, before ultimately hitting the trooper on foot.
