Reardan, WA (October 26, 2025) – A deadly collision involving a passenger vehicle and a garbage truck occurred Friday morning near Reardan, resulting in one fatality and another person hospitalized.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on October 24 on U.S. Highway 2. Authorities say a man driving westbound in a car attempted to pass traffic by entering the eastbound lane. During the maneuver, his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming garbage truck.
Despite efforts by the truck driver, a 27-year-old, to slow down and move aside, the impact could not be avoided. Both vehicles erupted in flames following the collision.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment.
