Hays, KS (September 21, 2025) – A truck driver from New York was hospitalized late Friday night following a collision on Interstate 70 in Ellis County, according to state authorities.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on September 19 along eastbound I-70 near Yocemento Avenue. Officials say 45-year-old Erkin Ismatov of Brooklyn, New York, was driving a 2023 Ford truck when he struck a disabled vehicle that was stopped in the right lane.
Following the impact, the truck veered off the road to the south and collided with a guardrail. Emergency personnel responded and transported Ismatov to Hays Medical Center for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
