Thomas County, KS (September 10, 2025) – A Tuesday morning crash involving two vehicles near an intersection in rural Thomas County sent both drivers to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 7:52 a.m. on September 9 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and County Road 23, about four miles east of K25. A tractor trailer was making a left turn at the intersection, causing traffic to slow.
A 2014 Toyota Corolla, driven by 28-year-old Horiana Xochitl Garcia Espinoza of Colby, Kansas, was second in line behind the semi and began to decelerate. A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 36-year-old Megan Marie Gaede of Hoxie, Kansas, was directly behind the Toyota and failed to stop in time, rear-ending the vehicle.
Both drivers were transported to Citizens Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.
