Clay County, MO (January 9, 2026) – An early morning crash on Wednesday, January 7, left one person injured following a two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 35 at the 10-mile marker in Clay County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol , the incident occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. and involved a 2013 GMC Sierra 3500 and a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu. Investigators say the crash happened when the driver of the GMC Sierra attempted to change from the left lane to the right, striking the Chevrolet Malibu traveling in the same direction.
The 24-year-old female driver of the Chevrolet, from Independence, Missouri, suffered minor injuries and was transported by Kansas City Fire personnel to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles sustained damage but were able to be driven from the scene.
