UNION COUNTY, MS (January 1, 2025) – A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 22 during the New Year Holiday Travel Period, as reported by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
At approximately 2:55 PM, a 2010 Mazda 3, driven by 42-year-old Van Wade of Tupelo, was traveling southbound on I-22 in Union County when the vehicle left the roadway on the southbound side and struck a tree.
Wade sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and no other vehicles were involved.
