Columbia County, WI (October 10, 2024) – A tragic accident on Monday, October 7, claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman and led to the arrest of a semi-truck driver in Columbia County. The crash occurred at the intersection of County Highway A and County Highway G in the Town of Courtland.
According to Captain David Clark of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the semi-truck failed to stop at a stop sign, driving into the path of a passenger truck. The passenger truck then collided with the semi’s trailer.
Bystanders who witnessed the crash quickly came to the young woman’s aid, pulling her from the vehicle and performing CPR until emergency responders arrived. Despite their efforts, she was airlifted to a local hospital, where she tragically passed away from her injuries.
The semi-truck driver, 25-year-old Jibreel Aguirre of Garland, Texas, was arrested at the scene. He faces a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle and is currently being held at the Columbia County Jail.
