Chicago, IL (January 4, 2026) – A major crash on Chicago’s Near North Side sent seven people to area hospitals after a driver allegedly ran a red light early Thursday morning.

According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 3:48 a.m. on January 1 in the 0-100 block of North LaSalle Drive. A red Honda traveling eastbound reportedly failed to stop at a solid red traffic signal and collided with another vehicle.

Three people from the Honda — two 21-year-old men and a 20-year-old woman — were transported to Northwestern Hospital. The other vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old man, carried three passengers: a 23-year-old man, a 30-year-old man, and a 29-year-old woman. All four occupants were also hospitalized, with three taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. Authorities said all seven victims were stabilized at the time of transport.

No citations have been issued, and the crash remains under investigation.
