Barton, NY (January 3, 2025) – A devastating head-on collision on Route 34 claimed the lives of three individuals and left another critically injured, according to New York State Police.
Authorities reported that a Toyota Highlander traveling north crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado. The crash resulted in the deaths of Sabrina M. Surita, 38, of Manahawkin, who succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital, and Carlos M. Lorenzo, 41, of the Bronx, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Janesa Lorenzo, 42, also from the Bronx, suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized. Delroy A. Christie, 56, a front-seat passenger in the Highlander, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and police have not yet determined the factors that led to the Highlander crossing into the opposite lane.
