According to PennDOT officials, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes near Exit 90. Multiple people sustained injuries, though the extent of these injuries has not yet been disclosed. Among the vehicles involved, four to five tractor-trailers jackknifed, further complicating the scene.
In total, approximately 40 vehicles remain stuck on the roadway due to the incident. PennDOT crews are working to access the area in reverse to salt the roads and address hazardous conditions.
Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. The northbound lanes of I-81 remain closed as emergency responders clear the scene and investigate the incident.
