Huntsville, AL (September 8, 2025) – A 30-year-old man from New Market lost his life Saturday night after a fiery single-vehicle wreck in Madison County, according to local authorities.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred around 8:54 p.m. on September 7 along Walker Lane near Hubert Road, about four miles northwest of Hazel Green. Multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle had slammed into a concrete power pole and was completely engulfed in flames.
Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene but were unable to approach the vehicle due to the intensity of the fire. The driver, later identified as Matthew S. Williamson, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found deceased inside the vehicle.
The impact also caused a power outage across parts of the New Market area. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
