Hartselle, AL (September 8, 2025) – A high-speed police pursuit ended in tragedy Saturday night in Hartselle, leaving a 17-year-old dead and several others injured after a violent crash involving two vehicles.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the chase began on Interstate 65 near the 329-mile marker when Priceville Police attempted to stop a vehicle. Within a minute, the pursuit exited the interstate and continued onto Main Street in Hartselle. Witnesses reported the fleeing vehicle nearly crashed twice before colliding with another car at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 31 around 8:30 p.m.
The impact launched one of the vehicles across the intersection and into a ditch, killing a 17-year-old inside. Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn confirmed the teen’s death Sunday morning. At least six people were hospitalized, including one individual in critical condition at UAB Hospital. The suspect was also hospitalized and remains in custody.
