Harris County, TX (September 14, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash claimed the lives of Shawn Kelley and Melissa Kelley early Friday morning in Harris County. The fatal collision occurred around 3:47 a.m. on September 12 along FM 1960 East.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Ram 1500 pickup truck. Investigators say Shawn Kelley was operating the motorcycle eastbound with his wife, Melissa Kelley, riding as a passenger. As they approached an intersection, a northbound Ram 1500 driven by Javier Briones attempted a left turn but failed to yield the right of way.
Briones pulled out in front of the motorcycle, leading to a devastating collision. Shawn Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene. Melissa Kelley was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Briones was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries and showed no signs of intoxication.
