Phoenix, AZ (September 16, 2025) – A devastating head-on collision involving a fire department ambulance and a passenger vehicle claimed three lives late Sunday night on State Route 260.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on September 14 near milepost 319. Investigators say a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 260 suddenly swerved across the centerline into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with a Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District ambulance.
Tragically, the driver of the passenger vehicle and two firefighters riding in the ambulance were killed in the impact. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
