Panora, IA (September 16, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash near Panora over the weekend claimed the life of a local high school senior and left three others injured, including two children.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, near the intersection of Highway 44 and Willow Avenue. Savannah Nicole Matthias, 17, of Guthrie Center, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound when she failed to navigate a curve. Her vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 2016 Ford F-250 driven by 37-year-old Noelle Elizabeth Bubeck of Redfield.

Matthias was pronounced dead at the scene. Bubeck and an 11-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by a family member. A 10-year-old in the truck was seriously injured and was airlifted to UnityPoint in Des Moines.
