Cleveland, OH (October 8, 2025) – Westbound Interstate 90 was temporarily closed in downtown Cleveland Tuesday afternoon following a crash near the I-71 interchange.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:00 p.m. on October 7 and forced officials to shut down all westbound lanes of I-90 just past I-71. A full closure was implemented for nearly an hour before the scene was cleared shortly before 3:00 p.m.
Motorists were rerouted using a First Alert Traffic detour that included exiting I-71 southbound at West 25th Street, turning north, and reentering I-90 westbound via West 25th.
The crash caused heavy traffic congestion, stretching back to the I-77 interchange, but normal traffic patterns resumed shortly after the scene was cleared. At this time, authorities have not released information regarding injuries or the number of vehicles involved.
