Howard County, TX (October 29, 2025) — A tragic crash on Interstate 20 in Howard County claimed the life of a man who was outside his vehicle on the shoulder of the freeway Saturday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal incident occurred on October 26 near mile marker 176. Authorities say 24-year-old Alejandro Hernandez was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound in the outside lane when he veered onto the shoulder and struck a parked Ford truck.
Thirty-year-old Jose Christian Jasso, who had exited the Ford and was walking outside the vehicle, was hit during the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hernandez sustained injuries and was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring for treatment. Two passengers who remained inside the Ford were unharmed.
