Auburn, ME (May 15, 2025) – A tragic crash involving a transport van and a pickup truck claimed the lives of two women Wednesday evening in Auburn, according to local authorities.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 6:55 p.m. on May 14 near the intersection of Washington Street and Beech Hill Road. Investigators say a 2016 Honda Odyssey van owned by John F. Murphy Homes was crossing Washington Street from Beech Hill Road when it moved into the path of a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado.
The van was carrying two female clients of John F. Murphy Homes, a nonprofit that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A 57-year-old woman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The second passenger died of her injuries early Thursday morning.
The pickup truck driver was not seriously hurt, and no condition was provided for the van’s driver. The roadway reopened around 10:30 p.m.
