Richmond, WI (December 13, 2025) – A devastating crash on County Road A in the Town of Richmond has claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy and left two others injured.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash around 9:51 p.m. on December 9 in the 1500 block of County Road A. Investigators say a minivan heading southbound lost control on an icy curve and collided with a northbound SUV.
The minivan was driven by 27-year-old Alisha Hailey of New Richmond. Her 8-year-old son, Owen Hailey, was critically injured in the crash. Life-saving efforts were performed at the scene, and Owen was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he later passed away. Alisha sustained serious injuries and was also treated at Regions Hospital.
The SUV driver, 71-year-old Linda Stefonek, suffered minor injuries and was released at the scene. The crash remains under active investigation.
