Escambia County, FL (December 13, 2025) – A deadly crash on Thursday afternoon resulted in one fatality and left another person critically injured following a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a sedan on U.S. Highway 98.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on December 12 at the intersection of U.S. 98 and Aileron Avenue. A 41-year-old man from Pensacola was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla attempting to turn left from Aileron Avenue onto the highway when the car was struck by an eastbound semi-truck hauling a loaded trailer.
The impact, which occurred on the driver’s side of the vehicle, caused both vehicles to come to a stop near Erin Drive. The driver of the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the sedan was flown to a nearby trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The semi-truck driver, a 33-year-old man from Macon, Georgia, was unharmed.
