Shawnee, KS (December 13, 2025) – A man from Gardner was arrested following a crash Wednesday night that injured two people on Interstate 435 near Johnson Drive in Shawnee.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on December 11. Authorities say 49-year-old James Terry was driving a 2014 Dodge Caravan northbound on I-435 when he attempted to turn around by entering the median. While doing so, he drove into the southbound lanes and collided with a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country minivan occupied by a woman and a 7-year-old girl.
Both passengers were wearing seat belts and avoided serious injuries. Terry fled the scene on foot into nearby woods but was later found by a Shawnee Police K9 unit. He was treated for a dog bite before being booked into custody at the Johnson County Adult Detention Center.
