Howard Township, PA (December 27, 2025) – A devastating head-on crash on Christmas afternoon in Centre County has left three people dead and three others seriously injured.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the two-vehicle collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. on December 25 along North Eagle Valley Road, just south of Swartz Hollow Road in Howard Township. Authorities report that a Pontiac carrying five people collided head-on with a Nissan. The driver and two passengers in the Pontiac were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional passengers from the same vehicle were flown by medical helicopter to nearby hospitals with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan was also hospitalized. The identities of those involved, including multiple adults and juveniles, have not yet been released pending family notification.
Emergency crews from both Centre and Clinton counties responded, and at least one helicopter landed in Bald Eagle State Park. The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
