Gamaliel, KY (January 5, 2026) – Authorities in Monroe County are actively investigating two serious dog attacks that occurred on consecutive days in Gamaliel, Kentucky. The first attack took place Tuesday, December 30, when a woman was mauled by four dogs while walking near the soccer field on Washington Street.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Deputy Richard Shirley of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the initial call around 4 p.m. The woman sustained extensive injuries, including deep lacerations, broken bones, and crush injuries. She was first treated at Bowling Green Medical Center before being flown to a hospital in Nashville due to the severity of her condition.
Authorities euthanized one dog found near East Main Street; the other three remained at large at the time of the report.
The following morning, on December 31, three dogs attacked a juvenile in the same area. Two of those dogs were euthanized, and one was captured. Deputies linked these animals to a West Main Street resident, who has been cited for harboring vicious animals. A court date is scheduled for January 6.
