Rankin County, MS (June 12, 2025) – A single-vehicle accident in Rankin County on Tuesday night claimed the life of a teenager and left two others hospitalized.
According to reports, the crash happened around 9:09 p.m. on June 10 along Diamond D Lake Road near Woodrow Martin Road, close to the Puckett community. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department stated that the vehicle, carrying three individuals, veered off the road and struck a tree.
Nineteen-year-old Joshua Blake Cooper II of Ellisville was pronounced dead at the scene despite first responders’ life-saving efforts. The other two occupants were transported by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and were listed in stable condition. Their identities have not been released.
The Walters Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene, and the sheriff’s department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
