Caroline, NY (September 19, 2026) – Two men were hospitalized after a head-on crash on Slaterville Road, also known as NY-79, in Caroline on Thursday morning, September 17.
According to the New York State Police, a 42-year-old Richford man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR eastbound when it collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 32-year-old Newark Valley man.
Emergency crews removed the Richford man from his Chevrolet and transported him by ambulance to Cayuga County Medical Center. He was later airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for further treatment. The Equinox driver was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital. New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit personnel responded to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
