Polk County, FL (September 23, 2026) – Two people were killed and two others seriously injured after two sedans collided nearly head-on on U.S. Highway 17/92 near Kissimmee on Saturday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the September 19 accident occurred on U.S. Highway 17/92 near West James Street. A 41-year-old Davenport man was driving a Honda sedan south when the vehicle entered the northbound lane and collided nearly head-on with a northbound Nissan sedan.
The Nissan was driven by a 37-year-old Kissimmee man and carried a 34-year-old Winter Haven man and a 45-year-old Kissimmee woman. All four people involved sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals for further care.
The Nissan driver and 45-year-old passenger later died from their injuries. The Honda driver and 34-year-old Nissan passenger remained hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
