Lamar, MO (September 26, 2026) – Two women were injured Friday evening, September 25, in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 160 about 10 miles west of Lamar in Barton County. The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2021 Mazda CX-5 was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 160 when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2015 Toyota RAV4.
The Mazda was driven by a 65-year-old woman from Shawnee, Kansas. The Toyota was driven by a 73-year-old Lamar woman and also carried a 74-year-old woman from Lamar. Both occupants of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin for further care.
Both drivers were reportedly using safety devices. The Mazda sustained total damage, while the Toyota sustained extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Park’s Towing.
