Cleveland, OH (June 14, 2025) – A crash involving Eastlake police officers responding to a shooting call resulted in multiple injuries Thursday evening at a busy intersection in Cleveland.
According to reports, officers were rushing to Sherwin Shooting Sports on Vine Street at approximately 7:10 p.m. following a 911 call reporting that someone behind the counter had been shot. Unaware that the shooting was accidental, Eastlake police responded urgently.
While en route, a squad car carrying two officers collided with four other vehicles at the intersection of Ohio 91 and Glen Drive. Both officers and two civilians in separate vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries that were described as non-life threatening. The conditions of the civilians have not been updated.
The Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation into the cause of the crash. At the shooting range, officers determined that an employee had accidentally shot a co-worker. First aid was administered before the victim was transported for treatment.
