Milwaukee County, WI (July 5, 2025) — One person suffered severe injuries following a multi-vehicle collision in a construction zone along Interstate 43 early Saturday morning.

According to reports, the crash happened just before 1:00 a.m. on June 28 in the northbound lanes of I-43, just north of Brown Deer Road. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said a car traveling through an active work zone struck a construction vehicle. A third vehicle then collided with the car that had initially crashed.

The worker in the construction vehicle sustained a concussion but did not require hospitalization. The male driver of the striking car was seriously injured, transported to the hospital, and is currently on a ventilator. His wife, who was in the car with him at the time, was not hurt.

Three juveniles traveling in the third vehicle, who were reportedly returning home from Summerfest, were not injured. Emergency crews worked for several hours to clear the scene, and all lanes reopened by 7:00 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
