Ridge Township, OH (July 7, 2025) — A violent three-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 30 left multiple people with serious injuries Sunday afternoon in Van Wert County.
According to reports, the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash near milepost 16 just after 4:00 p.m. on July 6. Troopers say a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by 30-year-old Lester Montenegro of Indianapolis was traveling eastbound when it crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes. The Corolla struck a 2015 Ford Escape driven by 42-year-old Kelley Lenehan of Kalamazoo in a devastating head-on impact.
After the initial collision, the Toyota was struck again by a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 21-year-old Brandon Garrett of Murray, Kentucky, who was also traveling westbound. All three vehicles came to rest in the grass median off U.S. Route 30.
Montenegro and a rear passenger in his vehicle both sustained serious injuries, with one victim airlifted by Mercy Health Life Flight to receive critical care. Lenehan was transported to Van Wert Hospital with serious injuries as well. Garrett was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Troopers confirmed that all drivers were wearing seat belts.
